The 'Weekly Wednesday Warble' is a performance of 10 songs on a theme. Sometimes the themes are related to seasons or upcoming holidays. Sometimes they revolve around a word, or a colour that shows up in all the songs. Sometimes it's 10 songs about a specific thing. (We've done driving, travel, boats, love etc) I also enjoy putting together sets of music from specific decades or years. I did a 3 week extravaganza for my birthday one year just doing songs from my biggest influences in different eras of my life. They are usually a mix of covers and originals, and I explain my reasons for picking each song as I go. Of all my live streams, these are the only ones that stay live after the fact so if you miss one, you can always go back and watch it later.
Every weekday I pop on over to TikTok to play 'Six Songs I'm Working On.' The schedule for that changes a little week to week depending on what else is going on in my day, but they are scheduled ahead of time. It's called 6 songs I'm working on as I come in with a set-list that includes 2 songs I play each day of the week that I am either trying to get under my fingers, memorize, or perfect. The other 4 are a rotation of songs that I'm either focusing on getting performance or recording ready, or just keeping up to snuff. I'm happy to take requests there as well and we usually sing a couple more than six songs because of it. I also answer questions about guitar playing and songwriting, and we do a lot of laughing and chatting.
The 'Monday Morning Sing Song' is a very casual musical affair where I do my best to help you start your week off with a positive feeling. It usually runs 3 hours and we're joined by folks from right across the globe. There's an extensive request list that you can use to request songs, or you can just hang out with the other chatters and enjoy the show. This also sometimes devolves into total chaos. Much laughter, glockenspiel, last minute costume changes occur.
Wednesday is for Writing, Recording, or other songwriter related work. I share my work process with listeners, but of course, we're easily distracted on the Kyla Tilley show. The gist of it is, I show up to get work done, you show up to distract me, and points are allotted accordingly. Despite the ease in which a person can get me telling stories, answreing questions, and digressing about anything, I've managed to get quite a lot of work done this way.
And then we have Yakuza Friday. What started as a holiday special has turned into a weekly stream. Twitch is a video game streaming platform at it's heart, and the game franchise nearest and dearest to my heart is the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios. I play through the series slowly, and completely, every Friday, with hourly breaks to practise the classical guitar. This can get...very silly. And while the Yakuza series at it's heart is about the importance of kindness, friendship, and following one's dreams, It is also frequently...not at all appropriate for younger audiences. FYI.
I also participate in many Raid Trains. Raids are a regular occurence on Twitch. When I finish my show, I bring every body over to another streamer's channel to see what they're up to. A Raid Train is when Twitch streamers organize to play one after another, bringing the audience along from stream to stream. These can last for a few hours, or a few days. I try to ride one once or twice every month or two, so you can periodically find me singing songs outside my usual hours that way.
