New Year January 10, 2021

I wanted to do a little 2020 recap to start the year off. I wasn’t able to go on tour or play any live shows, but thanks to the magic of the internet I have met more people and musicians than ever this year! It took me until December to realize there were open mics on zoom, but I found them and participated in a New Years Eve party that lasted 16 hours and involved musicians from all over the globe. I started writing songs on a twitch show that I did daily throughout the year and I’ve made a... (more)

Vagarys December 12, 2020

There is more music out in the world now. This fall I recorded and released Vagarys. It’s 5 songs, all from song prompts, with most written this year, and one written live on my twitch show.

There were a lot of issues with the recording. First it was the USB ports on my laptop being flaky and causing my recording software to loose contact with my recording hardware. Then it was our moving truck taking longer than expected so the bass and drums were late getting here. My main guitar recording mic and my bass developed loose connections or... (more)

Entertainment Roundup October 03, 2020

I thought I’d take a page out of Joe Abercrombie’s book and start giving y’all a round-up of the entertainment I’ve been enjoying over the summer. (Joe Abercrombie is a grim dark fantasy author I enjoy.) Joe Abercrombie does this once a year, but even if I only watch one movie in a year I would never remember what it was come December, so I’m opting for at least seasonally if not monthly.

The enjoyment of art is integral to the making of art, and I’m a firm believer in the adage that what comes out is only as... (more)

A Change of Scenery, A Change of Plan September 26, 2020

It seems like it’s time for a 2020 update.

Things have changed somewhat.

I had quite a busy Spring, Summer, and Fall lined up on my calendar this year. Touring and performing with several different projects, a number of conferences, retreats, and events. I had started jamming with more people and had some new projects on the go. I was doing theatrics in an Alice Cooper tribute band that had a bunch of shows lined up around Quebec. I was playing more traditional Celtic music with a violinist who had just moved to town, and Kyla Tilley... (more)

Tour Diary: Magical Amherst September 19, 2020

We had two stops is Amherst Nova Scotia on the New Shoes tour in August 2019. One planned, one unexpected. We’d planned to stay there with friends the night of our Sackville gig on our way back, but upon realizing how close to Moncton Amherst is, we ended up staying with our friends that night on the way down. We arrived to be greeted by fudgesicles and the words ‘I booked you guys a gig in the morning!’ Both of which were very welcomed.

The gig was at Dayle’s Market which is a big open indoor market place with a... (more)
