Halloweens October 31, 2023

It’s Halloween today. I like dressing up, so you’d think I’d make a bigger deal out of Halloween than I do. (Mostly I just like shopping after halloween for deals! ) But if you invite me to a party, I’ll come up with a costume. Anyway, here’s some costumes I’ve thrown together over the years. First up, Xena Warrior Princess. I wanted to go as Red Sonja that year, but I did a quick survey of my friends in Quebec and determined most people wouldn’t know who that was, so Xena won. (Which is good, cuz I don’t need a... (more)

Monday Movie Day - Malignant October 30, 2023

Seeings as it’s practically Halloween and all, I suppose I should put up a horror movie review.

Malignant (2021)

6/10

Why are you going in that building alone at night?

Date Watched: 10 April 2022

Pretty entertaining, but I always find people making irrational decisions hard to take, and there are some peak horror movie irrational decisions made by the characters here that were a little too ridiculous for me to suspend disbelief for.

Womex 23 October 25, 2023

So here I am, all checked-in at #womex23 in A Coruña Spain. This is a really pretty town.

Close up of a bronze statue of a woman's face. There...

Monday Movie Day - John Wick Chapter Four October 23, 2023

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

3/10

Ouf, do you think you could have drawn that out any longer?

Date Watched: 27 May 2023

If they had cut every action scene in half and cut out most of the dialogue it might have been an okay film.

I did enjoy the choreography with the cars at the Arc de Triomph and the Mr. Nobody character, but other than that this was a real slog. A real slog.

Every line of dialogue was a speech. I can suspend a lot of disbelief for a movie in which every... (more)

Monday Movie Day - Rampage October 16, 2023

Rampage (2018)

The Rock never let’s us down!

Date Watched: 29 May 2023

We weren’t expecting much, but we wanted to be entertained and we figured anything involving The Rock is a safe bet. And he did not let us down!

My husband has played the game and pointed out the many deviations, but also the many nods to the source material.

The villians would have been over the top if I hadn’t just finished reading a book about the Theranos lady and seen things that twitter guy said.

There were lots of laughs, the... (more)
